Dear Members of the Lithuanian American Community,
Just last week, numerous media outlets reported that two Russian military aircraft violated Lithuania’s airspace! This comes after another airspace violation by Russian jets in Estonia last month. Lithuania’s Ambassador to the U.S., Gediminas Varvuolis, discussed the incident on CNN, saying that Russia is “testing NATO” and its protocols. With Russia’s provocations continuing, now more than ever, it’s critical that we support efforts to hold Russia accountable for its aggression and disrupt its ability to fund its military operations and war machine in Ukraine.
We need your help in urging Congress to pass the S. 1241, the Sanctioning Russia Act of 2025, introduced by Senators Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), and its companion in the House, H.R. 2548. This legislation would impose steep tariffs on countries that import Russian energy and implement secondary sanctions on foreign companies aiding in Russian energy production.
Why is this Bill Important?
Sanctions are a powerful tool to weaken Russia’s financial ability to fund its military campaigns, and sanctions send a clear message to countries who are enabling Russia’s aggressive behavior. America needs to send a strong signal NOW that Putin must be held accountable for his persistent aggression.
What Can You Do?
Take a few minutes today to contact your Members of Congress and Senators and urge them to support S. 1241, the Sanctioning Russia Act of 2025, and its companion in the House, H.R. 2548. You can make an impact!
